The Infinite Tower: Floor by Floor
Tóm tắt
Dungeon fantasy with progression, strategy, and survival elements. The tone is tense, investigative, and steeped in dread — survival horror blended with forensic puzzle-solving. This is not power fantasy. Death is permanent, combat is costly, and the Tower rewards the prepared while devouring the reckless. Moments of wonder and camaraderie punctuate an atmosphere of creeping wrongness. The Tower is beautiful and lethal in equal measure, and every floor feels like walking through someone's gravey

Nhân vật (8)
Verrick Ashen
antagonistThe guildmaster of the Ashen Collective, the most powerful military guild operating inside the Tower. Verrick is in his fifties, heavily scarred, missing his right eye to a Floor 89 anomaly from a previous cycle. He controls the Collective with absolute authority tempered by genuine competence. He believes the Tower's knowledge should be controlled and rationed, not freely distributed — not out of greed, but because he has personally witnessed what unrestricted echo access does to the human mind. His antagonism toward Kael stems from a fundamentally different philosophy about the relationship between knowledge and safety.
Doss
mentor / echo companionThe death echo of an explorer who died on Floor 12 during the Tower's previous cycle, over a hundred years ago. Doss was a cartographer and philosopher who reached further than almost anyone of his era before a trap on the twelfth floor ended his climb. His echo is unusually coherent — not just a frozen final moment but a persistent, self-aware presence that retains personality, memory, and opinion. After Kael partially absorbs him at the INHABIT mastery tier, Doss becomes an internal voice: a century-dead man who still remembers what it felt like to be alive and has had a hundred years of watching the Tower from the inside.
Kael
protagonistA failed scholar from the village of Ashwick with no combat talent, no magical gift, and no particular physical distinction beyond being thin, near-sighted, and perpetually overlooked. His village was destroyed by a Floor 3 creature that should not have left the Tower, killing his younger sister Mira and everyone he ever knew. Kael discovers he possesses an extraordinarily rare sensitivity: he can read 'death echoes,' experiencing the final moments of fallen explorers. This ability makes him strategically invaluable in the Tower but slowly erodes his sense of self as he absorbs the memories, traumas, and personality fragments of the dead with each advancing mastery tier.
Thorn Blackwell
rival / antiheroA solo floor runner who survives by harvesting and selling death echoes on the black market rather than using them for knowledge. Thorn is everything Kael could become if he valued profit over people: combat-capable, emotionally detached, and ruthlessly pragmatic about the Tower's economics. He views the dead as resources and Echo Shards as the only reliable currency. He has been running the Tower solo for two years, which should be impossible, and he has no interest in explaining how.
Sera Voss
supporting character / guild operativeA guild-trained navigator from the Voss family, a dynasty that has monopolized Tower mapping for three consecutive cycles. Sera is polished, politically fluent, and carries herself with the confidence of someone who has never had to earn access to anything — it was always inherited. Beneath the composure, she harbors a dangerous secret: the Voss family's maps are not merely records. They are contracts negotiated with something inside the Tower, and the contracts demand a price that Sera only partially understands.
Lyria Dawn
supporting character / healerA healer who joined the Tower expedition not for glory or Echo Shards but because she believes the Tower holds the cure for a wasting sickness devastating the lowland villages — the same sickness that killed her mother. Lyria's healing magic interacts unusually with the Tower's energy: she can mend physical wounds and, more remarkably, partially soothe the psychological damage caused by death echoes. This makes her indispensable to Kael, whose echo reading would otherwise destroy him within months. She is warm, stubborn, perceptive, and carries the weight of a deathbed promise she cannot break.
Wren
supporting character / mysteryA child of approximately eight years old who appears on Floor 7, seemingly alive but unable to leave the floor. Wren is not a death echo — they react to the present, learn new information, express genuine fear and curiosity, and change over time. But no record exists of any child entering the Tower during this cycle, and no previous cycle records mention one either. Wren's true nature is the story's longest-running mystery.
Maren Stone
supporting character / party combat leadA seasoned floor runner in her late twenties with a prosthetic left arm carved from Tower bone and reinforced with Echo Shard lattice. She has survived inside the Tower for three years — longer than most — and carries the physical and psychological scars to prove it. Maren is pragmatic to the point of apparent cruelty: she has watched too many idealists die on the first floor they tried to save someone. She initially takes Kael into her party as a tactical asset — his echo reading makes survival more likely — and has no intention of caring about him.
